However, the gift of God is eternal life. Notice that eternal life cannot be earned or deserved. You cannot work for it or be good enough to get it or perform any kind of religious ritual or service to gain it. Eternal life is a free gift. It was purchased and paid for in full by the Lord Jesus Christ when He died on the cross and took the sins of the world into His own sinless perfect body. The Bible says that Jesus became sin for us. He was literally separated from God the Father while He bore our sins that day. He paid the price and when He was done He said,  It is finished. It means that the individual must surrender his or her life and the control of that life to Him. He is our creator. He is the one who died to redeem us from sin and death. Here is the gospel story in a short form. In the beginning, God created everything and He created man in His own express image to live forever and to have dominion over all of His creation. However, man chose to obey Satan, God s enemy and to disobey the Creator. When man sinned in this way, he lost his relationship with God and became separated from God and was destined to die. God loved man and did not leave him in this condition. Instead, God came, Himself to the earth as a man--the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was born of a virgin. He lived a perfect, sinless life. FIRST OF ALL each person must give his heart and life to the Lord Jesus Christ. Each instructor must take the time to explain to the group what they must do to be born again. Each student must receive the Lord Jesus Christ personally as Lord and Savior. Here are some Scriptures to use and some ways to explain how to receive Jesus: Romans 3:23... for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. This Scripture tells us that each and every person is guilty of wrong doing and wrong thinking and is less than God s standard of perfection, the Lord Jesus Christ, Himself. God says that all have sinned. All includes each individual in the room. All includes you and it includes me. Do you agree with God that you have sinned and have come short of God s standard of perfection? Romans 6:23... the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Here, the Word of God tells us that our sins have earned us a wage. That wage is death. Not just physical death but eternal death--separation from God forever in eternity. Human beings are eternal creatures created in the image and likeness of God. Every person will live on forever even after their body is dead. Because of sin, each person is condemned to eternal death in hell separated from God. Hell was prepared for Satan and the angels who followed him in rebellion against God thousands to shreds by some of the men He was dying for. They ripped Him with whips and then drove nails through His wrists and ankles and nailed him to a rough wooden cross. The cross was raised up on top of the garbage dump outside of Jerusalem in Israel. There, the Lord Jesus took into Himself all of the sins of the entire human race. From Adam to the last person who will ever be born on the earth. Jesus bore all of man s sins and became sin for us. The sun turned dark and would not shine for three hours, the earth shook terribly and Jesus cried,  it is finished . He died and was buried in a borrowed tomb for three days and nights. After that, Jesus rose from the dead by His own mighty power. Victorious over death and hell and the grave. He walked on the earth for forty days showing hundreds of people that He was alive and continuing to instruct his disciples. Then He ascended back up to heaven from where He came with the promise that He would come again in the same way. One day, He will return to the earth as King of kings and Lord of lords. He will rule all of the nations of the earth and will give the earth and all of creation back to the men and women who have received Him as He is, Lord and Savior of their lives. John 3:16... for God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. The word,  believe is very important here. In the original language which Jesus spoke, the word He used meant more than to simply acknowledge or agree with. It means to trust in, rely upon, cling to adhere to. If you were looking at a chair in a room full of chairs with people sitting on them. You might say to yourself,  this chair looks like it will hold me up. I am sure it will. Other chairs just like it are holding up other people. But just agreeing that the chair can hold you up is not enough. You must sit on the chair yourself and rest your weight on it. Then it is actually holding you up. In the same way, each person must not only agree that Jesus Christ is Who He says He is and that He is the Master and the Lord and the Page 3 Savior. Each person must personally rest his own eternity on Jesus. Each person must trust in Him, rely upon Him, cling to Him and adhere to Him as his only Salvation. Revelation 3:20...Jesus said,  look, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone will open the door, I will come into him and dine with him and he with Me To receive Jesus Christ personally as Lord and Savior, each person must consciously open the door and invite Him in. If someone you knew came to your door and knocked on it. You would have to hear him knocking and open the door and invite him in. He wouldn t sneak in or barge in. You would have to open the door and ask him to come in. In the same way, Jesus is standing outside the door to the hearts of millions of people and He is knocking. By His Holy Spirit, He is touching each heart and quietly knocking, but you must open the door and invite Him in. He must come in as He is. He is Savior, but He is also Lord. The Word of God says that Jesus has all authority and power in heaven and on earth and even under the earth. He is the Creator, He is God, He is Lord. If you open the door and invite Him in, you must invite Him in completely. Let Him forgive you for all of your sins and let Him take charge of all of your life. God has a wonderful plan for your life and you can only fulfill it by allowing Jesus to come in and direct your life and give you the power of God to live for Him. If you were driving down the road and you saw Jesus on the side of the road looking like He needed a ride, surely you would pull over and offer to give him a ride. But, when you stopped, you would see Jesus walk around to your window and He would say,  move over, I am going to drive . So, you move over into the passenger s seat and you give the steering wheel to Jesus. Then, He turns your car around and heads a completely new direction. That is what it means to  repent and Jesus said, &  except you repent, you will all perish . Each person must turn the controls over to the Master. If you are willing to ask Jesus Christ to come into your life& if you are willing to open the door to your heart and receive Him truly as your Lord and Savior. If you are willing to move over and allow Him to be in control of your life from here on in, then you must tell Him so and He has promised to come in and live in your life forever and to forgive your sins and give you eternal, everlasting life with Him& in heaven when you die and right now here on the earth as you live out your life. The best way to open the door and receive the Lord Jesus is to pray and ask Him in. If you are willing, then pray this prayer earnestly now. Page 4 LORD JESUS CHRIST.
